Valentine's Day macarons

These macarons are the perfect treat as a gift to yourself or someone special in your life. These round and heart shaped macarons with a rose buttercream and rasperry jelly filling are utterly delicious. You should really give them a try!

This is my second attempt to bake macarons. They are still not looking perfect but tasted really awesome! To pipe heart shaped macarons is quiet tricky. It's much easier to just create round macarons. So if you are like me and rather new to baking macarons, I'd recommend you to first start with round ones.

Recipe:

-70g almond flour
-110g icing sugar
-2 eggwhites
-50g sugar
-some food coloring

-2 tsp rose water
-50 g butter
- icing sugar
-6 tsp rasperry jelly

Mix the almond flour with the icing sugar and let it through a sieve. Beat the eggwhites until their pale and fluffy. Slowely add the sugar and beat the eggwhites until the sugar is dissolved. Add some food coloring until you reach the color of your choice. Finally mix the flour mixture with the beaten eggwhites. Fill the mixture in a piping bag and pipe round or heart shaped macarons on a parchment paper. Let them sit for about 30 min or until there no longer sticky on top. Preheat the oven to 140°C  and bake them for 12-15 minutes. When they are cooled they should come off easily. Make sure your butter has roomtemperature and beat until the butter is fluffy. Add icing sugar until the buttercream is stiff and sweet enough for you. Finally add the rose water. Pipe buttercream around one macaron shell and put some jelly in the middle. Press the two macaron halves together and enjoy!
